Class-action lawsuits against real estate developers are no longer just an occasional risk. They are increasingly becoming a realistic business scenario that the industry must take into account.
In recent months, several such proceedings have been filed, and more are in the works. Issues that until recently were isolated incidents can now escalate rapidly—with consequences that extend beyond the legal proceedings themselves and affect, among other things, relationships with clients and business partners, as well as an investor’s reputation.
That is why, on May 26, we held a free KKG Legal webinar: “Developers Under Pressure from Class-Action Lawsuits—Risk Analysis and Mitigation Strategies”.
During the meeting, the following topics were discussed in particular:
- How regulatory changes are contributing to an increase in disputes with buyers,
- Why is it much easier to have a collective dispute today than it was just a few years ago,
- How class action proceedings are currently conducted and what has changed in this regard since 2024,
- In practice, what are the most common sources of lawsuits against developers?
- Why floor space and partition walls are among the hottest topics of dispute today,
- What contractual, organizational, and decision-making measures should be implemented to mitigate business risks and apply effective protective measures?
The webinar was practical in nature and drew on experiences from real-world disputes, legal proceedings, and current market trends.
The meeting was aimed specifically at board members, directors, and individuals responsible for sales, customer service, and legal matters at real estate development companies.
Hosts:
